Wonder Girls “So Hot” vs Eurythmics “Sweet Dreams”

Netizens are discussing whether Wonder Girls new retro dance song “So Hot” includes a sampling of Eurythmics “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)” because they say the former has the similar keyboard instrumentals of the latter.

However through a phone interview today (28th May) with Edaily SPN, Wonder Girls agency, JYP Entertainment, cleared the issue.

“Eurythmics Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This) is a famous song but it wasn’t used as a sampling for So Hot. The song is an original composition of Park Jin Young,” a JYP official explained. On a side note, Wonder Girls hit song “Tell Me” has the sampling of Stacy Q’s “Two of Hearts”.

  1. It does not sound like Sweet Dreams. Heck just they have the same beat and same genre doesn’t mean So Hot was sampled from Sweet Dreams.

I could say that all Korean ballads sound the same nowadays if netizens are saying this

  2. that’s rediculous. Does that mean every rock band out there is using samplings of other bands since they use the same instrument, the guitars? Plus, correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t sampling when an artist borrows a certain lick/line/beat/etc. of another artist’s song?

  3. songs nowadays have barely same beat. i notice that on every song i’m listening too. chords of guitars and pianos are all the same, unless u can invent ur own instruments. i believe SO HOT is an original composition of JYPE. and jyp will not deny if ever so hot is a sample, right? afterall, tell me is a big hit.
