According to a poll done recently by Korean website, Jukeon from 17th – 23rd January on 5,542 members to find out the, “Most Anticipated Idol Group in 2008”, DBSK topped the polls with 2,085 votes (37.13%).
DBSK currently in the midst of their Japan promotions, achieved pretty good results recently after their 16th CD single, “purple line” managed to get number one on the weekly oricon charts on the same day of release. They have been receiving lots of attention in Japan and is the first other than Japanese singers to get first place on the Oricon charts as a group and male singers.
DBSK will release their album on 23rd January and is scheduled to release their 4th Korean album in the latter half of 2008.
In second spot is high popularity idol group, Big Bang who obtained 1,899 votes (34.27%). Big Bang is also in the midst of their Japanese promotions. They had earlier in January released their first debut album in Japan and would begin promoting it at the start of February.
In third spot was the Wonder Girls with 996 votes (17.97%) and all thanks to their “Tell Me” song which created a storm last year. After resting for about a month, they will be returning to the stage as guests for JYP’s American concerts in late February. Their next album is scheduled for a May 2008 release. Wonder Girls are the only girl group to be ranked in the poll dominated by male groups.
Finally, Shinhwa was number four with 396 votes (7.15%) while SS501 rounded up the top five with 193 votes (3.48%). It was a surprise to see Super Junior missing from the polls considering their fanbase in Korea.
